Thomas Keane, CPA, ABV, CFF, CVA, is a Partner in DLA’s Forensic, Valuation & Litigation Support (FVLS) practice. With more than 25 years of experience in forensic accounting, business valuation, matrimonial litigation support, and complex financial investigations, Thomas serves as a trusted advisor to attorneys and clients navigating high-stakes disputes. His work includes forensic analyses, valuation of business interests, lifestyle analyses, income determination, fraud investigations, and expert testimony across a broad range of litigation matters.
Thomas joins DLA from the CBIZ Forensic Consulting Group, where he served as a Senior Director. In that role, he provided economic and financial expertise to legal teams, oversaw valuation and litigation support engagements, and supervised senior and staff accountants. His experience includes extensive work in matrimonial litigation and financial investigations, as well as operational reviews designed to strengthen organizational controls.
Prior to CBIZ, Thomas spent 12 years with Big Four accounting firms, beginning his career in Arthur Andersen’s financial services audit practice before transitioning into its Litigation Support Practice, later acquired by KPMG. As a Senior Manager at KPMG, he conducted investigations of fraudulent activity, identified control weaknesses, and prepared detailed reports outlining findings and recommended remediation strategies.
Thomas also served as Assistant Controller and Director for a publicly traded cancer diagnostics and research company in New York City. Initially engaged to review accounting irregularities, he identified multiple instances of management-level fraud that contributed to the company’s bankruptcy filing. He later joined the organization, retrained the accounting team, improved operational processes, and helped prepare the company for the sale of its assets.
A graduate of the State University of New York at Albany with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Thomas is a licensed CPA in New York and New Jersey. He holds multiple specialist credentials, including ABV, CFF, and CVA. Thomas is an active member of the AICPA, the New Jersey Society of CPAs, and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. He is also a frequent lecturer, having presented for the American Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association, and various continuing education programs.
