SEC, FINRA Plan Compliance Outreach Seminar for BDs

On April 17, 2019, ThinkAdvisor reported that the Securities and Exchange Commission and Financial Industry Regulatory Authority plan to hold their 2019 National Compliance Outreach Program for Broker-Dealers on June 27 in Chicago.  The program, which will also be webcast, is to be held at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and will focus on insights from SEC and FINRA leadership, protecting retail investors and regulatory hot topics such as digital assets, cybersecurity and anti-money laundering.

FINRA Reminds BDs of Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery Duties

On April 22, 2019, ThinkAdvisor reported that the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority is reminding broker-dealers of their obligations to have business continuity and disaster recovery plans in place in a just-released Regulatory Notice. Reg Notice 19-15 consolidates FINRA’s designation criteria for BDs that must have such plans, as previously announced in Notices 15-43 and 18-09, without change.
