Firms Elect Large-Firm Governor to FINRA Board of Governors
On May 23, 2017, FINRA announced the results of voting that took place at its Special Meeting on May 19, 2017, to elect one Large-Firm Governor to the FINRA Board of Governors. Andrew S. Duff, Chairman and CEO of Piper Jaffray Companies, was elected as a Large-Firm Governor. “FINRA will benefit from Andrew’s industry knowledge in advancing our mission of protecting investors and ensuring the integrity of our markets,” said FINRA Chairman John J. Brennan. “We look forward to working with him.”

DOL Keeps June 9 Fiduciary Rule Start Date
On May 23, 2017, NASDAQ reported that the DOL will not delay its implementation of the June 9 Compliance date for its controversial fiduciary rule, but that it will nonetheless seek additional public input on the regulation.
